WEEK 9: Indianapolis Colts +5.5 at New England Patriots (-110)
It's tough to buck any Belichick lead defense against a young quarterback, let alone a rookie quarterback. Well, that's what we have here when the Elhinger led Colts head to Foxboro to take on the Patriots. Elhinger was as good as could be expected from a quarterback drafted in the 6th round last week. Many anticipated a lot more QB designed runs and less passing in the rookie's first NFL start, but the opposite was true. As a result, the Colts lost and their offensive coordinator was canned. This week I expect the play calling to open up and utilize Elhinger's mobility outside of the pocket. We just saw Justin Fields and the Chicago Bears have success two weeks ago with a similar game plan against this same Patriots defense. The truth is, the Patriots and Mac Jones, in particular, have left a lot to be desired this season. This is not the same Belichick led Patriots team we've grown accustomed to in recent years. I make the game Patriots -2.25, which makes this -5.5 nonsensical.
