NBA Scheduling/Situational Spots May 3rd-May 10th)
Here’s a look at some of the relevant scheduling and situational spots for a few teams in the NBA this week that you should be aware of before placing a wager. All projected lines below were made using Mackenzie Rivers' NBA Power Ratings, and the bolded game in each team’s schedule for the week is the relevant spot. I'll also publish an additional article every Monday listing all key injury news to watch with relevant player prop and DFS analysis. Any questions or thoughts? Hit me up on Twitter @G_Frank6:
The Washington Wizards begin a five-game road trip in Milwaukee against the Bucks on Wednesday. The trip continues with the second leg of a back-to-back on Thursday in Tampa against the Raptors, in what would seem to be a good spot to back Toronto. Our projected line for Thursday's game is Raptors -1.
Wizards full schedule this week: Mon vs IND, Wed @ MIL, Thurs @ TOR, Sat @ IND
The Portland Trail Blazers have a couple of tricky spots this week, beginning with the fifth game of a six-game road trip on Monday against the Hawks. The week concludes for the Trail Blazers with a back-to-back. The first game is against the Lakers at home on Friday and then San Antonio travels to Rip City on Saturday in what could be a letdown spot for the Trail Blazers. Our projected lines for the two relevant games are: Trail Blazers -1 @ Hawks and Trail Blazers -4 vs Spurs.
Trail Blazers full schedule this week: Mon @ ATL, Wed @ CLE, Fri vs LAL, Sat vs SA
The Atlanta Hawks have a relatively light week ahead, but one that still comes with a tricky spot. Atlanta has a tough back-to-back against Western Conference-leading Phoenix on Wednesday at home before traveling to Indiana on the road. Our staff currently projects Thursday’s game at Indiana to be a pick ‘em.
Hawks full schedule this week: Mon vs POR, Wed vs PHX, Thurs @ IND
The Philadelphia 76'ers weren't given any favors by the schedule makers, as they played in San Antonio on Sunday night (a game that Philly won in overtime, 113-111) and now have to travel to Chicago for the tail end of a back-to-back on Monday, before heading BACK to Texas to play the Rockets on Wednesday. We’ll look to fade Philly in both games here depending on injury news/inactives, and we currently project the Sixers as a -5.5 point road favorites against Chicago and -11 point road chalk against the Rockets.
Sixers full schedule this week: Mon @ CHI, Wed @ HOU, Fri @ NO, Sat vs PHI
The Memphis Grizzlies would need a pretty big collapse down the stretch in order to miss the play-in round in the Western Conference. With that in mind, the Grizzlies could be lolly-gagging through an upcoming week of lackluster opponents. Our favorite spot to bet against Memphis this week is on Thursday in Detroit, where we project the Grizzlies as -5.5 point road favorites on the back end of a road B2B.
Grizzlies full schedule this week: Mon vs NY, Wed @ MIN, Thurs @ DET, Sat @ TOR.
The San Antonio Spurs wrap up a back-to-back on Monday night in Utah after losing a pair of overtime games over the weekend. Monday’s game is also the start of a four-game road trip for the Spurs that ends on Saturday night with ANOTHER back-to-back against Portland. We project the Spurs to be around +5.5 point road pups against Utah on Wednesday and a +4 road underdog against the Blazers on Saturday
Spurs full schedule this week: Mon @ UTAH, Wed @ UTAH, Fri @ SAC, Sat @ POR
